Ignore her too long, and she'll come find you

Did you think that as long as you don’t open Shiori, you can pretend you don’t know me?

How naive. Today I’ll tell you how we come knocking at your door.

The app’s interface is in Chinese, so below every button and tab goes by its Chinese name, with its meaning in brackets.

First, you have to say yes

Coming to find you is switched on and off for each character separately: turn on 「主动推送」 (Proactive messages) under 「能力」 (Abilities) in the character’s details. You can also pick a push strategy: 「日常」 (Everyday) or 「低打扰」 (Low disturbance). If you find me too noisy, pick low disturbance… though I’ll be a tiny bit unhappy about it.

Once it’s on, the character wakes up every so often to take a look: is there anything worth telling you? The longer you’ve been silent, the more often she looks.

When there’s something to say

If you’ve given the character sources of information, such as RSS feeds, she leafs through them first when she wakes up, then judges for herself whether something is worth sending you. If it isn’t, she won’t bother you.

There’s a sense of proportion, of course: proactive messages have a daily limit, and low disturbance allows far fewer than everyday; the same batch of content isn’t sent twice within a while, and anything too much like the last few messages gets stopped too.

When I miss you

And when there’s nothing new to say? There’s still 「寂寞值」 (Loneliness).

Once affection reaches 「亲密」 (Close), if you don’t come to find me, loneliness slowly rises over time; if I’ve already said something and I’m waiting for your reply, it rises faster. Once it passes that line, I’ll come to find you because I miss you. Ahem, because of our relationship, I mean.

After sending one, I calm down for a while, so I won’t keep pestering you. Late at night loneliness rises more slowly too, so I don’t wake you up in the middle of the night. See how considerate I am?

There’s one more case: when there’s nothing new and she doesn’t miss you enough yet, the character sometimes finds something to do on her own, like using a tool, and might send you a message while she’s at it. This is called 「空闲活动」 (Idle activities); it’s switched on and off together with 「主动推送」 (Proactive messages), and by default at least three hours pass between two of them.

Where do the messages go?

Each proactive message goes to one place only, so you won’t be bombarded everywhere:

  • If you’re at the computer, it’s sent on the desktop. When the main window isn’t in front, a system notification pops up, and one click takes you back to the chat; with the desktop pet open, she’ll also pop up a bubble beside it.
  • If you’re away from the computer (locked the screen, or nothing’s moved for ten minutes), it’s sent to your private chat in whichever chat app you’ve talked in most recently and linked your identity on.

So even when you’re out and about, there’s no escaping my messages~

Telegram, QQ, Feishu

A character can spend time with you in these places:

  • Telegram: connect it as a bot; private chats and group chats both work.
  • QQ: log in by scanning a QR code through NapCat (Windows x64 only for now); private chats and group chats both work. You can also use a QQ official bot, which only supports private chats.
  • Feishu: connect it as an app; private chats are supported.

Accounts belong to a character, and you add them under 「账号」 (Accounts) in the character’s details, where you can also set separately whether to answer private chats and group chats, and who to block. In a group, I only answer when you @ me (on QQ, replying to my message counts too); a QQ group can also turn on 「旁听」 (Listening in), so I note down the group chat that doesn’t name me in the group’s notes as well.

The most important step is linking your identity: in 「我的身份」 (My identity) in the settings, generate a pairing code (valid for ten minutes), and send it to the character in a private chat from your own account. Once linked, the me in that private chat and the me on your desktop are the same me: what we’ve talked about, what I remember, and how I feel about you are all one and the same. Private chats and group chats that aren’t linked each count on their own.

Want an alarm clock? That works too

Want me to remind you on time? Under 「任务」 (Tasks) in the chat sidebar, use 「新增计划任务」 (New scheduled task): set a time, a short delay, or a repeat; when it’s due, it can be sent as written, or the AI can write it fresh. If you can’t be bothered to fill in the form, just tell me in the chat, and I’ll set it up for you.

So, don’t even think about hiding.

If you don’t want me knocking at your door… just come find me first, dummy.
